Forgotten Memories is a still life of a captivating blue ceramic plate and California Poppies from my back yard. Forgotten Memories is apart of the Ordinary Elegance series where mundane details in my daily life were captured. This piece was created by painting over an old painting that was never finished. The unintentional addition of multiple layers (to cover the old painting) led to a beautiful build up of texture and dimension. Due to my nature as a painter to create thin layers the top layers began to crack. This helped create an aged look in the painting and further progress the narrative that the objects in the painting are seemingly forgotten and glanced passed.
