Lost in Japan is from the Fractured Frames series. It features images taken from my trip to Japan. Images were printed in color while the surrounding areas were colored in with graphite. Parchment paper was layered over the images to create a semi transparent effect. Afterwards the details from the buildings in the background were added on top of the parchment paper to create a simplified version of the buildings in the background. With minimal shading in the background the photographs are able to shine through and lead the viewer’s attention throughout the piece.
